Seeking Child Support

 

How and where can you apply?

 

     To apply for services, call or write the child support office serving your area and ask for an application package.  Once you have completed the application, mail or take it to the office serving your area. You may also contact an attorney for legal advice. 

 

What do I need to bring?

 

In most cases when you apply for services, you need to bring:

 

ü       Your picture ID

ü       Your Social Security number and driver’s license number.

ü       Each child’s Social Security number if they have it.

ü       A copy of each child’s certificate

ü       Copies of any previous child support orders

ü       Copies of any child custody, protective or visitation orders.

ü       Your most recent paycheck stub

 

 

In order to collect child support from an absent parent you maybe asked to provide information about both the mother and father of the children for whom you are seeking child support, which may include:

 

ü       Full legal names

ü       Dates of birth

ü       Social Security numbers and driver’s license umbers

ü       Present address or past address

ü       Current or last know employer’s name and address

ü       A recent paycheck stub for the Non Custodial Parent

ü       Union, professional associations, clubs or other organizations the non-custodial parent maybe a member.

ü       Names and locations of the non-custodial Parent.

ü       Professional and occupational licenses of the non-custodial parent.

ü       The non-custodial parent ‘s vehicle and license plate number

ü       The non custodian’s assets – such as a house, boat or and account
